Atlético Madrid is enjoying a strong run, having secured five straight wins in La Liga, bringing them back into contention for the title alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Their recent victories include a 2-0 triumph over Las Palmas, a 1-0 win against Mallorca, a 2-1 success over Alaves, and a commanding 5-0 victory over Real Valladolid.
In their latest match, Atlético staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming Sevilla FC 4-3 at the Metropolitano. Antoine Griezmann played a key role, scoring two goals.
This victory extended their winning streak to 10 matches, following a 3-1 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava, in which Griezmann also scored twice.
Getafe’s season, however, has been more inconsistent. They managed a narrow 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Espanyol, as well as a solid 2-0 victory at home to Valladolid.
However, they were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid at the Bernabéu, with Kylian Mbappé scoring a spectacular goal. Away from home, Getafe has struggled, failing to win a single match this season, suffering five losses and two draws.
Atlético’s injury concerns have eased somewhat, with only Thomas Lemar still sidelined, though he made his return in their Champions League match.
Griezmann continues to impress, with seven goals and four assists, while Rodrigo De Paul has been pivotal, scoring in critical moments. On the other hand, Getafe will be without suspended midfielder Mauro Arambarri, and they also face several injuries, including that of Borja Mayoral, who scored 15 goals last season.
Prediction
Atlético Madrid 2-0 Getafe. Atlético’s strong home form, coupled with Getafe’s poor away record, suggests a comfortable win for the hosts.
