Greece vs England Prediction: 14/11/2024

Although Greece did not participate in the Euro in Germany last June, they are well-positioned to advance to the top tier of the Nations League. The Greek team achieved an impressive start, winning their first four matches.

They delivered solid performances in September with victories over Finland (3-0) and Ireland (2-0), followed by a notable 2-1 win against England at Wembley and another victory over Ireland (2-0). As a result, Greece currently leads their group.

On the other hand, England, who reached the Euro finals for the second consecutive time but still came up short, continues to struggle with adding to their accomplishments over the past six decades. This Nations League season also looks challenging for the Three Lions, as they currently sit three points behind Greece with just two games left.

They started with wins over Ireland (2-0) and Finland (2-0) in September but were unexpectedly defeated by Greece (2-1) last month before bouncing back with a 3-1 victory over Finland. Since then, Thomas Tuchel has taken over as England’s head coach.

In terms of team changes, Greece sees midfielder Bouchalakis and forward Chatzigiovanis out due to injury or selection choices.

However, regular players like goalkeeper Vlachodimos, defenders Tsimikas, Chatzidiakos, Vavropanos, and Giannoulis, as well as midfielders Bakasetas, Mantalos, and Pelkas, are all expected to play. The offense includes Masouras, Pavlidis, Tzolis, and Ioannidis, with Ioannidis already contributing three goals in this campaign.

For England, Tuchel will have to manage without experienced defenders Stones and Maguire, as well as young midfielder Mainoo, due to injuries. Rashford remains excluded from the squad, while key players such as Pickford, Walker, Alexander-Arnold, and Guehi bolster the defense.

The midfield lineup includes Rice, Foden, Bellingham, and Gallagher. In attack, Palmer, Grealish, Saka, and captain Harry Kane, who leads with 68 goals, are set to play, with newcomer Angel Gomes also called up.

Prediction

England previously competed at the highest level in the UEFA Nations League, but they struggled, securing just one point in seven matches. Meanwhile, Greece has shown strength with eight wins in their last 11 home games at this level. England could face a tough challenge in this encounter.

Prediction: Greece 1 : 1 England
